Prepare Repair Orders Quickly On International Vehicles
A joint project between DSI Solutions and International Trucks is helping a Michigan-based dealership to improve efficiency in writing repair orders for customers.
Tri-County International Trucks, which has five locations in southeast Michigan, has been working on the pilot project for the last three months. International approached DSI and Tri-County to participate in the development and testing of a new repair estimating tool.
Tri-County is an International truck franchise that uses DSI software to manage its operations. The project involved integrating the DSI software with estimating information from International, including each vehicle’s specifications, parts required and the time needed to complete a particular repair.
“With the new tool, the quote should be more accurate and timely,” says Ben Cramer, co-CEO of DSI Solutions.
For Derek Fracalossi, Director of Service at Tri-County, the estimating tool is a time saver. Previously, his staff had to enter the same information in both the International and DSI systems to generate an estimate and a repair order. With the repair estimating tool, the information automatically flows into the DSI system.
“During the entire repair process, we estimate that the new tool saves between 30 minutes and an hour for our service team,” Fracalossi says.
DSI is the first dealer software provider to be certified by International Trucks to use the tool. It is being unveiled at next week’s 2016 Navistar Parts and Service Expo in Indianapolis.
With the pilot project nearing completion, the estimating tool is available to other International dealers.
